OBTAINING AN ACCESSIBLE PARKING PERMIT

Eligibility Standards

A person may receive an Accessible Parking Permit if:

  • they can not walk 50 meters without the assistance of another person or a brace, cane, crutch, a lower limb prosthetic device or similar assistive device or who requires the assistance of a wheelchair;
  • they are severely limited in the ability to walk 50 meters due to an arthritic, neurological, musculoskeletal or orthopedic condition; or
  • their visual acuity is 20/200 or poorer in the better eye with or without corrective lenses or whose greatest diameter of the field of vision in both eyes is 20 degrees or less.

When an application has been completed by a regulated health professional as stipulated in the Application for Accessible Parking Permit form, it must be presented to the City of Whitehorse, 2121 Second Avenue, Whitehorse, Yukon, Y1A 1C2, within 90 days, or a new application from your doctor will be required.

Your health professional will be in receipt of the application that they are required to complete.

A fee of $25.00 is required upon the issuance of an Accessible Parking Permit.
