NORTHWESTEL CONTINUES CGC SPONSORSHIP

Monday, July 30, 2012

WHITEHORSE – NorthwesTel has renewed its sponsorship commitment at the Canada Games Centre (CGC), said Mayor Bev Buckway.

“We’d like to thank NorthwesTel for their continuing support of the CGC,” said Buckway. “The generosity of community partners like NorthwesTel assist the City in delivering recreational programs and services that mean so much to our community.”

Northwestel sponsorship of the NorthwesTel Arena at the CGC began in 2007. The new agreement will be for $10,000 a year and will run from 2012 to March 2017.

The City’s summer ice program will take place in the NorthwesTel Arena, and will begin with the Northwestel Summit Hockey School on July 30th.

“The CGC provides many opportunities for Yukoners and their families to stay active,” said Paul Flaherty, President and Chief Executive Officer of NorthwesTel. “With our commitment to contributing to healthier, happier communities in Canada’s North, we are pleased to sponsor the NorthwesTel ice for another five years.

“Renewing this agreement and opening the ice for another season with the NorthwesTel Summit Hockey School are great ways we, as a company, can contribute to the City of Whitehorse,” Flaherty added.
