Kirk Cameron is a born and raised Yukoner, having spent his youth growing up in Riverdale and Downtown Whitehorse. He is President of northSense management consulting, a Whitehorse company. Over 20 years (1983-2003), he held positions in various provincial, territorial and federal government departments, focusing on policy, planning and legislative development.
His public service career culminated in his appointment as Yukon Government’s Deputy Minister of the Executive Council Office and Cabinet Secretary. In this role he oversaw devolution of land and resources administration to Yukon from the Government of Canada, the rewrite of Yukon’s Constitution (the Yukon Act), and the settlement of a number of outstanding land claims.
Since 2003 Kirk has been a principal or lead consultant in the consulting firms of Gartner Lee Limited, AECOM and now northSense management consulting (a company he established in 2009), providing governance services to private sector clients, First Nations and public governments.
Kirk is co-author of two books and has published a number of articles on government and constitutional development. His is now a blogger with www.northernpublicaffairs.ca/index/. Kirk is a strong proponent of wise and well-managed growth of our Yukon economy.
In 2012 Kirk was also appointed as an occasional lecturer at Yukon College in the Yukon First Nations Leadership Training Program.
