Married with three children, Councillor Dave Stockdale is a retired school teacher and has lived in the Yukon for 44 years. He was first elected to Council in 1983, and is serving his eleventh consecutive term as a City Councillor.

Throughout his time in the Yukon, Dave has been actively involved in several sports organizations, most notably the Yukon Soccer Association, the Table Tennis Association, Sport Yukon, the 2007 Canada Winter Games and the 2012 Arctic Winter Games.

Dave was Chef-de-Mission for Team Yukon at the 1973 Canada Games, and in 1974 he chaired the organizing committee which hosted the Canadian National Table Tennis Championships. He also served as the Director of Sport for the 2000 Arctic Winter Games Host Society. In 2007 Dave chaired the Table Tennis event at the Canada Winter Games. He is still President of Table Tennis Yukon and fundraising chair of the Food Bank Society of Whitehorse.
