New Program Addition - Seeding and Starting your Plants
March has warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours - this is the perfect time to plant those seeds! Learn which varieties of vegetables and flowers work well in the Yukon. Topics of discussion include types of seeds, seedlings and the transplant stage; soil mixtures, containers to use, as well as temperature and light requirements to give optimum conditions for growth.
In the hands-on portion of the class, everyone will get a chance to plant and take home an assortment of planted seeds. Choices include tomatoes, peppers, celery, various herbs, and some slow growing flower varieties such as lobelia, pansies, and petunias. Trays, soil and seeds are provided. Instructor: Ingrid Wilcox
