Spring Cleanup Kicks Off

Public Service Announcement

Post Date:04/25/2017

Whitehorse – It’s getting greener in Whitehorse and we’re planning a whole host of cleanup events!

Community Cleanup Program – Happening now

Approved community groups are doing their part and cleaning up parts of the city with the help of the Community Cleanup Grant.

20 Minute Makeover - May 3

Organizations and individuals are encouraged to take 20 minutes out of their day to clean up garbage and graffiti around their homes or place of work - or in alleyways, greenbelts or parks anywhere in Whitehorse. Drop off your garbage at Shipyards Park and enjoy a free BBQ lunch from 11:30am to 1:00pm.

Tag ‘n’ Take - May 13 & 14

Citizens are encouraged to reuse each other’s items during Tag ‘n’ Take. Please tag items that are in good condition and put them at your curb on May 13 and 14 for others to take home. Please ensure all leftover materials are removed from the curb by sunset on May 14th. Reusing is a great way to keep things out of the landfill, save energy and materials required to make new items, and save money. Get your tags online!

Spring Cleanup Days - May 15-22

Whitehorse residents can bring residential garbage and yard waste to the Waste Management Facility free of charge.

Household Hazardous Waste Days - May 26 & 27

Safely get rid of your solvents, aerosol cans (empty, partial, and full), oil at the Waste Management Facility.  An extra day has been added to reduce waits and free up your weekend!
