Ways To Report Illegal Dumping

Post Date:05/15/2017

We have all seen it at one time or another - garbage, old appliances, broken TVs, mattresses and other waste items dumped in the woods, on the curb, and maybe even in your waste bin.

The City encourages all residents and business owners to report illegal dumping. The City investigates all reports of illegal dumping, which can lead to charges under a number of City Bylaws.

Over the last two years the City has installed REPORT ILLEGAL DUMPING signs on back roads and near known illegal dumping sites within the City’s boundaries. Reporting illegal dumping is important for City staff who are trying to learn more about the problem, what it costs taxpayers, and how community members can work together to stop illegal dumping. For those individuals with a smart phone, the City of Whitehorse Waste App has a new feature that allows you to report and send photos of illegal dumping from your phone. Give it a try next time you see illegal dumping.

Key Facts:

  • New feature added to the Whitehorse Waste App to report illegal dumping from your mobile phone.
  • See it. Report it. 667-2111.
  • Spring greening initiatives are under way including Spring Cleanup Week and Household Hazardous Waste Days. Visit for more information.
