Spring Cleanup Initiatives Approaching
Public Service Announcement
Whitehorse – Snow and ice is slowly melting in Whitehorse and with this comes the time to pick up any messes left behind. It’s also a good opportunity to make sure the sidewalk in front of your home or business is safe for pedestrians.
Did you know? Section 8 of the Maintenance Bylaw states “No person shall cause, permit or allow refuse to accumulate upon a highway or upon property owned or occupied by him or upon public lands adjoining property owned or occupied by him unless such use is permitted by the Zoning Bylaw.”
For example, on Main Street, it is the responsibility of adjacent businesses to remove any garbage nearby.
To assist residents, businesses and community groups this spring, the City is planning a whole host of cleanup events.
Community Cleanup Program
Approved community groups will be doing their part and cleaning up areas of the city with the help of the Community Cleanup Grant.
20 Minute Makeover - 20th anniversary!
On May 15, organizations and individuals are encouraged to take 20 minutes out of their day to clean up garbage and graffiti around their homes or place of work – as well as in alleyways, greenbelts or parks anywhere in Whitehorse.
