20 Minute Makeover Approaching

Post Date:04/30/2019

Whitehorse – Spring cleaning season is upon us. On May 15, organizations and individuals are encouraged to take 20 minutes out of their day to clean up garbage and graffiti around their homes or place of work – as well as in alleyways, greenbelts or parks anywhere in Whitehorse.

The City of Whitehorse will be challenging Yukon Government and Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce to see which team can bag and sort the most garbage within the designated time.

This event will take place on Wednesday, May 15, between 8:30am and 11:30am, in any Whitehorse location that requires cleaning.

Free garbage bags and graffiti remover are available at the City’s Parks office in the Sport Yukon building between 8:30am and 2:30pm.

After the cleanup, everyone is invited to join us for a free public BBQ at Shipyards Park at 12 noon. Sorting stations (metals, wood, paints, tires and construction material) will be on hand to divert waste from our landfill.

Please RSVP for the BBQ by contacting Keri Rutherford at Keri.Rutherford@whitehorse.ca

The City thanks everyone for their efforts in in making Whitehorse a cleaner and more environmentally-friendly place. To learn more about this event, please visit http://www.whitehorse.ca/cleanup
