The Dangers of Unattended Fires

Post Date:05/28/2019 3:13 PM

Whitehorse – Residents are advised that the fire danger rating has reached its highest point of Red (extreme) in the Whitehorse area.

As a result, burning permits have been temporarily suspended.

“We face an extremely dangerous fire season here in the Whitehorse area and the conditions are ripe for wildfires. Please be mindful of this fact and report any smoke or fire that you see by calling 9-1-1,” said Mayor Dan Curtis.

Failing to comply with the City’s fire prevention bylaws can result in penalties up to $1,000.
