Whitehorse 2040 OCP Review - Ideas Workbook Available
WHITEHORSE – The City of Whitehorse invites the public to fill out the Whitehorse 2040 Ideas Workbook. The workbook contains over 20 questions about the public’s thoughts on how our City should grow and change over the next 20 years.
The workbook is the latest engagement opportunity offered as part of Phase 2 of the ongoing review of the City’s top-level planning document, the Official Community Plan (OCP). In Phase 2, “Explore New Concepts,” we take the big ideas collected from the public in Phase 1 and test and consider them in more detail.
Engagement events for Phase 2 are running from May to August, and have already included neighborhood workshops. The workbook is available from now until August 4th. It is available online at www.whitehorse.ca/ocp and hardcopies will be handed out at numerous pop-up events throughout the summer. Phase 2 will wrap up with the production of a ‘New Concepts’ report and ‘What We Heard’ document.
“With projected growth of 12,000 new residents over the next 20 years, we have a major challenge on our hands,” Mayor Dan Curtis said. “Phase 2 is an exciting part of the OCP review because it gives the public a chance to explore innovative new concepts that can help keep Whitehorse such a desirable place to live.”
Whitehorse 2040 launched in late 2018 and is expected to be completed by 2020.
