Public Service Announcement

Post Date:06/28/2019

Whitehorse – Commuters are advised that Canada Day celebrations will take place on Monday, July 1st 2019.

Staging and form up for the Canada Day parade will start at 10 a.m. from Strickland Street and Sixth Avenue to Main Street and Fourth Avenue.

The parade will start at 11 a.m. on Main Street and end at Shipyards Park.

Bylaw Services and organizers will provide traffic control and barriers at intersections along Main Street from Sixth Avenue to Second Avenue, and then along Second Avenue until Ogilvie Street.

The Rotary Club Rubber Duck Race will start at 2:45 p.m. from the Robert Campbell Bridge.

Bylaw Services officers will close down the northbound lane of the bridge. In the event of emergency vehicles requiring access during the bridge closure, the southbound lane will be made available for their exclusive use by the traffic control officers.

These road closures will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. to 3:05 p.m. on July 1st. The Canada Day celebrations in Whitehorse are organized by the Whitehorse Legion. Although most City facilities will be closed on July 1, ceremonies and celebrations will take place throughout the afternoon at Shipyards Park.
