Whitehorse – Work is beginning this weekend to improve the surface of Second Avenue.
Skookum Asphalt, the City’s contractor, will be installing conduits at Wood Street and Main Street, and subsequently milling and overlaying Second Avenue from Lowe Street to Ogilvie Street.
Working hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Roadwork will take place in sections, with the first being from Lowe Street to Main Street. The second section will take place between Main Street and Ogilvie Street.
Work is expected to be completed by the end of August, depending on the weather.
Traffic will be limited to one lane on one side of the road while the other is closed for construction. Businesses will remain open.
All emergency vehicles and transit will be given priority access through the work site.
In order to allow for two-way traffic, parking will not be allowed on Second Avenue during the construction period. Please use alternate parking for the duration of the construction.
Please obey traffic controllers and construction signage.
We thank you for your patience and consideration during the construction period.
