Whitehorse – Effective tomorrow, the City of Whitehorse is temporarily suspending drop-in front-counter services at all its facilities in order to respect physical distancing measures.
City services remain operational and we are encouraging citizens and visitors to do as much of their City business online or by phone, when possible. When that’s not possible we’re asking that you make an appointment. Check the City’s website at www.whitehorse.ca for relevant department contact information.
Yesterday, Dr. Brendan Hanley announced there were two cases of COVID-19 in the territory. All Yukoners returning from anywhere outside the territory and all visitors are required to self-isolate for 14 days. Furthermore, gatherings of more than 10 people are banned.
Parks, playgrounds, trails and cemeteries continue to remain open; however, we’re encouraging citizens to practice physical distancing and to respect the maximum gathering size of 10 people.
We continue to follow the recommendations made by the Yukon Chief Medical Officer of Health.
The City continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation in the territory to ensure we respond to emerging issues as they relate to City facilities, programs, services and events.
