City Transit Update

Post Date:03/25/2020 3:52 PM

Whitehorse – Effective tomorrow morning, Whitehorse Transit riders will no longer be able to board buses once capacity has been reached, in light of COVID-19 physical distancing recommendations.

Although ridership has decreased in the past week, the City aims to implement further measures that will protect against the potential transmission of the virus.

The City is not considering cancelling bus service at this time. Physical distancing measures have already been implemented on all City buses, as well as rear-boarding and increased sanitizing efforts.

The City is working to identify ways to assist those riders who will not be able to board a particular bus.

Morning commuters are encouraged to consider alternate transportation options, or taking an earlier bus if possible.

Riders are also asked to limit trips on public transit to peak times only.
