Whitehorse – Miles Canyon Road will remain closed to vehicles until at least May 11th, in order to provide more recreational opportunities to Whitehorse residents and visitors during the COVID-19 situation.
The road has recently seen an increase in pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Please park responsibly and, if possible, walk or cycle to Miles Canyon Road rather than driving to it.
This closure also gives City workers the opportunity to carry out seasonal maintenance work on the road.
The Millennium Trail has also seen a higher volume of usage recently. As a result of the COVID-19 situation, some changes are being implemented.
Starting Monday, April 27th, usage of the trail will go in one direction only along the narrow River Wall portion of the trail (between the S.S. Klondike and the Eagle’s Nest parking lot). Trail users travelling in the other direction will be required to use the wide shoulder of Robert Service Way.
A temporary lane, and signage, will be installed to guide trail users.
This is a temporary measure in order to help facilitate physical distancing on the trail during the COVID-19 situation.
