Whitehorse – Wearing a mask will be a requirement to enter the Canada Games Centre and Takhini Arena as of Monday, November 16th.
Patrons will be required to keep their mask on while in the concourses and spectating areas. They may remove their mask as they enter the Wellness Centre, ice surfaces, Field House, Flexi-Hall and Aquatics Centre, but they are required to put it back on afterwards.
The decision aligns with the announcement earlier this week from the Chief Medical Officer of Health, who made masks mandatory in common areas in schools outside of the classroom.
“We want to ensure that we are doing our part to help further minimize the spread of COVID-19 in our community,” said Mayor Dan Curtis. “By working together and taking these steps, we can keep each other safe.”
Mayor and Council will continue to closely monitor the situation and consider further restrictions, should they be necessary.
The City of Whitehorse encourages everyone to do their part and wear a mask in these common areas. Additional information on how to wear, use, and store your mask is available here.
