Safe Speeds Downtown

Post Date:12/18/2020 1:06 PM

Whitehorse – The City of Whitehorse is proposing to change the speed limits in the Downtown area to 40 kilometers per hour on Second and Fourth Avenue, and to 30 kilometers per hour on all side streets.

The speed limit changes are part of the Safe Speeds Downtown initiative, which was created following Council’s review of recommendations for enhancements to Second Avenue. Lowered speed limits will make our roads safer and friendlier for all modes of transportation including walking, cycling, transit and driving.

Visit whitehorse.ca/safespeedsdowntown to learn more about this proposed initiative, and to read the entire Memorandum on Safety Interventions and Downtown Speed Reductions.

If you would like to provide comments about this initiative, please send an email to:

Comments sent to this email address will be distributed to the project team for information and consideration but will not receive an individual response.

If you have questions or concerns or would like to discuss this initiative in detail, we ask that you call one of the project team members below.
