Fire Permits Revoked

Post Date:04/19/2021 9:33 AM

Whitehorse – The City of Whitehorse is reminding residents that all fire permits will be revoked as of Sunday, April 25th. The fire ban will continue until October 1st, 2021.

Due to the heavy snowpack, the Whitehorse Fire Department had extended the fire season to allow residents to conduct safe burning of residual FireSmart projects or other natural wood products.

It is time to start wrapping up all burning projects in preparation of wildfire season. Remember to follow the permit regulations located on the back of each permit.

Here are some key reminders:

  • Call Fire Dispatch at 668-2462 with your permit number before you burn;
  • Ensure an adult attends the fire at all times;
  • Avoid deep duff layer burning as these may re-surface when the snow is gone;
  • Ensure your fire is out before you walk away;
  • Only burn natural wood products;
  • If you have concerns or questions, please call the Fire Dispatch number;
  • If you have an emergency, don’t wait, call 911.
