Whitehorse Flood Update #4

Post Date:07/19/2021 2:00 PM

WHITEHORSE – City of Whitehorse crews continue their mobilization efforts along the Yukon River this week.

As water levels continue to stabilize in the area, crews will begin placing over 100 superbags to raise a low section of the river bank in the Marwell subdivision today.

City officials are also closely monitoring the area of Waterfront Place closest to the river, and preparing for a possible flooding scenario.

These measures are being taken out of an abundance of caution, and because current modeling predictions call for higher water levels in the next month.

Please keep your distance from the edge of the Yukon River at all times, as some areas may be unstable and dangerous.

Everyone is encouraged to register for Whitehorse Alert, the City’s free, emergency mass notification system.

Please visit and the Government of Yukon’s emergency page for the most up-to-date information.
