Whitehorse – The sheet piling wall along Robert Service Way is complete and the earth berm to strengthen the wall will be finished soon. These temporary measures are in place to mitigate further landslide risk in the area.
Robert Service Way is planned to re-open later this week with no traffic controls required. More details around the re-opening will be made available soon. The Millennium Trail will remain closed to keep pedestrians out of the slide area.
There has been minimal observed movement on the escarpment, but with the anticipated rainfall we continue to monitor the area closely. The public is instructed to avoid all trails and areas that remain closed. These areas are being assessed for re-opening and details will be publicly communicated once known; however, this is not expected to occur prior to July 1.
If you witness a slide, please report it to the City’s trouble line at 667-2111. In the event of an emergency, please call 9-1-1.
