The public plane and boat launch on the west shore of Schwatka Lake has been reconstructed. The City extends its thanks to Associated Engineering, Sidhu Trucking, and Advanced Construction for the design and construction of this renewed facility. Funding for the work was provided by Gas Tax Canada. Two new public docks have also been purchased for the lake. One will be installed seasonally next to the west shore launch and is intended for motorized boat use; the other will be installed seasonally on the east shore at the Day Use Area to accompany the existing dock at that location. The City extends its thanks to Canada 150 for helping to fund the project. Thanks also go to Yukon Yamaha for delivering the new docks.

Schwatka Lake Area Plan

On March 9, 2015, City Council adopted the Schwatka Lake Area Plan as a guiding document for aviation, recreation, conservation, and other land uses and activities on the west shore of Schwatka Lake. The Area Plan provides 37 recommendations for infrastructure and management improvements that were developed through an extensive public consultation process. A Working Group has been organized to help oversee implementation of the Area Plan and to discuss emerging topics that affect the lake area. If you would like to participate in this group, send us an email.
