DESCRIPTION:Active Commute Whitehorse invites champions\, employers\, and schools to take small steps throughout the year\, all leading up to a fun month-long challenge in May – Active Commute Month. \nSchool and employer teams participate in the May challenge\, log their trips and track their team’s rankings in real-time on the website’s leaderboard. \nChallenge runs May 1 – 31. \nRegister here! \nTake the Pre-Challenge Survey\nHelp us make Active Commute Month even better to understand commuting habits and measure program impact by completing our 2-minute survey. \nSupport Stations\nWednesdays: May 7\, 14\, 21 & 28\n7:30 – 9 am \nMillennium Trail at Rotary Park\nTwo Mile Hill Trail at Takhini Arena\nAirport Trail at the Alaska Highway \nLook for aid stations with refreshments and high-fives set up to recognize your efforts!\nOr sign up to volunteer at a Support Station. \nOther fun and related events:  \nKids Bike Rodeo\nJune 3\, 3:30 to 5 pm\nShipyards Park \nKick off National Parks and Recreation Month with the Kids’ Bike Rodeo. \nWe’ll have an obstacle course for all levels in collaboration with the Yukon Cycling Association\, bike decorating and more. Learn safe biking tips\, play games and get your ride checked by specialists from Icycle Sports. \nBring your own bike and helmet to participate. Open to ages 4 to 14 years\, with a guardian. Check-in is required to sign a waiver and receive your wristband.\nRegister here!  \nVelo Canada Bikes Pedal Poll\nJune 3 – 8\nThroughout Whitehorse \nThe Pedal Poll is a chance to evaluate the state of cycling in our communities. DESCRIPTION:Kick off your weekend every Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at your neighbourhood parks! \nThe City of Whitehorse\, along with our community partners\, invites families to join us for an unforgettable experience at your neighbourhood park. Where fun meets community! \nGames and activities\nSnacks and refreshments\nMusic\, fun and learning \nPartners at this week’s event include:\n– Yukon Invasive Species Council\nExplore the colourful world of plants and make ‘nature paint’ from plant pigments. Invasive plants can be safely harvested to make homemade paints for unique works of art. \n– City’s Water and Waste team\nLearn about waste diversion using colouring and games. Find out about how your family can reduce wildlife attractants. \n– YukonU Youth Moving Mountains\nTry out STEAM (Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Arts and Math) activities with Yukon University. \n– City’s Recreation team\nPlay outdoor lawn games and make sidewalk chalk art with the Rec team. \n– City’s Sustainability team\nExplore ways – big and small – to act on climate change\, and leave a lighter footprint. \n– Humane Society Yukon\nThe Humane Society team will be demonstrating how to safely handle dogs and puppies and teaching basic dog and puppy care. \n– City’s Parks team\nParks will have toys\, freezies\, and Klondike Kettle Corn to share! \n– City’s Bylaw team\nLearn about ATV safety from our Bylaw crew. \nTo ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all\, we kindly ask that children under 12 be accompanied by a guardian throughout the event.
