New Year’s Eve

Join us on Sunday, December 31 for a New Year’s Eve celebration!
Come to the Canada Games Centre for an afternoon of fun! Crafts in the Kid’s Club and themed games from 11:30 am to 2 pm. Free skating from 12 to 3:30 pm.
The party will then move to Shipyards Park from 7 to 9 pm for more free activities.
Bring your skates and sleds, and enjoy apple cider or hot chocolate (bring your own mug). We’ll have a bonfire going to warm you up, popcorn, and BGC Yukon will be hosting games. The Frank Slim Building will be open, and washrooms will be available.
The 10- to 15-minute fireworks show is set to begin at 8 pm. Weather permitting.
Some other great vantage points for taking in the fireworks display are: the Airport Trail, the Downtown Escarpment Trail, and the Riverfront Trail.
Please keep these tips in mind on New Year’s Eve:
• This is a popular event, consider carpooling or using active transportation.
• Do not park on Black St or Front St by Fire Hall #1, as emergency vehicles need enough space to safely come and go from the station.
• Pets are often startled by fireworks. Please take extra precautions and leave your pets at home on New Year’s Eve.
• Leave fireworks to the professionals. The use of fireworks is strictly prohibited within city limits at any time of year, pursuant to the Firearms By-Law.
