The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is Tuesday, September 30.
The Council for Yukon First Nations will be hosting events throughout the day, beginning with a march at 11 a.m.
The march will proceed from the Healing Totem at the wharf in downtown Whitehorse down Main Street to Second Avenue, turning north on Second Avenue and then turning on to Black Street, ending at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre.
The walk is expected to take about one hour with access to Second Avenue blocked via Main Street and Black Street. Second Avenue, between Main Street and Black Street, will be closed with detours on Third and Fourth Avenues.
Traffic control measures will be in place with Bylaw officers assisting with traffic control.
Transit stops along Second Avenue, from Main Street to Ogilvie Street, will be closed with buses detouring along Fourth Avenue. Riders on most routes can expect delays.
The City appreciates the public’s patience during this important event.
