Do you have a FireSmart idea that would benefit your community?
In preparation for 2026 Wildfire Community Preparedness Day (Saturday, May 2), FireSmart Canada is offering $500 grants for initiatives that enhance community wildfire preparedness.
Several Whitehorse neighbourhood associations have been successful in applying for this funding in previous years. Applications, however, are not limited to neighbourhood associations.
Successful applicants can use the money towards awareness events and community cleanups.
Community groups who received funding through the Neighbourhood Recognition Program are not eligible for 2026 Wildfire Community Preparedness Day grants.
The application deadline is Saturday, January 31, 2026 and details are available at firesmartcanada.ca.
Any Whitehorse groups interested applying for funding are encouraged to contact City FireSmart personnel at [email protected] for assistance in preparing their application.
