As part of the City’s pre-winter maintenance, crews will be cleaning up grave sites at the Grey Mountain Cemetery starting on Wednesday, September 23.
We know how much these small tributes and adornments mean. Over time, items left at grave sites can weather, break down, or shift, which can create safety hazards for visitors and for the staff who maintain these grounds. This seasonal maintenance helps us keep the cemetery peaceful and safe for the whole community.
We kindly ask visitors to remove any personal items they wish to keep by Tuesday, September 22. Artificial or dried flowers that have faded with time will be cleared away as part of this process.
The clean-up is expected to be complete by Wednesday, September 30. Please do not add any adornments during the clean-up period.
Any items still in place once the clean-up begins will be carefully removed, labelled, and kept in storage for 120 days, giving families plenty of time to reclaim them.
Thank you for helping us to care for the cemetery.
