Celebrate New Year’s Eve with the City

            December 11, 2024

Join us Tuesday, December 31 to celebrate New Year’s Eve!

The festivities begin early, with family-friendly activities at the Canada Games Centre throughout the day.

            • 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. – Free drop-in all day in the Fieldhouse, Flexihall and arenas. Wristbands will still be required for fitness and aquatics programming.
            • 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – New Year’s Eve Family Fun & Cozy Play will feature activities for ages six and under, with a guardian. Find us at the Kid’s Club across from the Fieldhouse.
            • 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. – New Year’s Eve Sparkle Craft in the concourse. Join the Family Literacy Centre and the CGC’s Preschool Crew.
            • 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Fun & Games in the Fieldhouse with bouncy castles.
            • 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. – A mix of drop-in activities and facilitated games in the Flexihall.

The party then moves to Shipyards Park from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for sledding, skating and warm drinks, with the fireworks finale at 8 p.m.

Some other great vantage points for taking in the fireworks display are: the Riverfront Trail, the Airport Trail, and the Downtown Escarpment Trail.

Please keep these tips in mind on New Year’s Eve:

This is a popular event, consider carpooling, using active transportation or taking public transit.

Do not park on Black Street or Front Street by Fire Hall #1, as emergency vehicles need enough space to safely come and go from the station.

Please leave your pets at home on New Year’s Eve.

Outdoor activities will be cancelled if temperature registers -25 at 12 p.m.

Leave fireworks to the professionals. The use of fireworks is strictly prohibited within city limits at any time of year, pursuant to the Firearms By-Law.
