The City of Whitehorse is governed by an elected Council consisting of one Mayor and six Councillors. Council is responsible for setting the policy direction of the municipal government, which is then carried out operationally by City administration.
Council holds Committee meetings, where new business is introduced, the first and third Mondays of every month. Council meetings, where decisions are made, are held the second and fourth Monday of every month.
Elections take place every three years. The current Council was elected on October 18, 2018.
