The City has issued permits for the first Short-Term Rentals (STRs) to operate in Whitehorse in accordance with the new regulations adopted by City Council in September.
Five STRs have been permitted to date and ten applications are currently being processed.
Short-Term Rental operators will have until April 1, 2027, to come into compliance with the new regulations, which include restrictions on the zones in which STRs can operate and the requirement that operators obtain a Development Permit and Business License.
Operators can apply for a Business License and Development Permit in tandem through the City’s e-permitting system. Processing of applications is expected to take up to 15 business days once all required forms and supporting documents are submitted.
