The City’s Food For Fines campaign is back for its 19th year.
If you receive a parking ticket between Saturday, November 22 and Saturday, December 6, you have the option to make a donation of food of equal or greater value than the ticket amount rather than pay for the ticket. Expired parking meter and two-hour zone ticket fines are eligible.
Donated food items must be non-perishable, which includes canned foods such as beans, fruit, vegetables and fish, as well as dried goods such as pasta, cereal and soup. The City will accept donations until Wednesday, December 10.
Donations will go to the Whitehorse Food Bank and Kaushee’s Place.
Online payments for eligible tickets issued between November 22 and December 6 will also be donated.
Since 2005, more than $113,000 has been raised in cash and food donations through the Food For Fines program.
