The City’s contractor, Norcope Enterprises, will be paving the intersection of Hospital Road and Lewes Boulevard Friday, August 8. The work follows the replacement in July of a deteriorating underground vault housing a City water line.
The centre lane at the south end of Hospital Road will be closed to traffic while paving is underway and until the asphalt has cured.
Detours will be in place for left turns from Hospital Road onto Lewes Boulevard into Riverdale, and for left turns from Lewes Boulevard onto Hospital Road towards Whitehorse General Hospital. See maps below.
The following lanes will remain open: northbound from Lewes Boulevard to Hospital Road, and from Hospital Road northbound to Lewes Boulevard toward the Robert Campbell Bridge.
Emergency vehicles will have priority access at all times and will not be subject to detours.
Transit routes and schedules remain unchanged.
Pedestrians and other active transportation users are encouraged to use the southwest side of Lewes Boulevard.
Residents travelling through the area are asked to drive with caution and follow signage and traffic control measures in the area.
Visitors to the Whitehorse General Hospital are advised to allow extra time when travelling to the hospital for appointments or visiting loved ones.
We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as this critical infrastructure work occurs.
