New regulations for short-term rentals in Whitehorse are set to come into force on October 1, 2026.
These regulations are included in the City’s new Zoning Bylaw, which was adopted by City Council in May 2026.
As part of the implementation of these regulations, the City will be updating the Business License Bylaw to establish the requirement for short-term operators to have a business license, and making associated changes to the Fees and Charges Bylaw and the Housing Development Incentives Policy.
A proposed set of amendments will be presented to City Council for consideration at the Standing Committee meeting on August 18. The proposed amendments outline conditions to obtain a business license to operate a short-term rental, including permit requirements, fees and advertising rules.
