Southern Tutchone (Dän Kʼè) is the traditional language of the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council and Kwanlin Dün First Nation.

To reflect and acknowledge that Whitehorse is located on the traditional territories of the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council and Kwanlin Dün First Nation, and advance reconciliation, the City of Whitehorse has been adding Southern Tutchone translations to signs for municipal facilities as part of the City’s Building Signage Policy.

Here you can listen to the Southern Tutchone translations (in the Lake Laberge dialect) of City buildings.

These translations were recorded by Hazel Nakhela Bunbury and Christine Genier at the Yukon Native Language Centre, at the Ayamdigut Campus, Yukon University, in Whitehorse. Big thanks to Christine and Hazel!
