Street Occupancy Permits For Construction Trailers
Planning to park a construction trailer on a City street? If your trailer will be detached from a vehicle for more than two hours, you’ll need a Street Occupancy Permit (SOP) in accordance with Section 74(3) of the Traffic Bylaw.
This permit ensures that trailers parked on public roadways do not obstruct traffic, sightlines, emergency access, or pedestrian infrastructure.
To apply, you’ll need:
- Trailer registration
- A map showing the proposed parking location
- Associated development/building permit number
- Proof of insurance
- Payment of applicable fees
Important: Trailers must not block fire hydrants, crosswalks, intersections, or pedestrian ramps, and must comply with all City bylaws and permit conditions.
