Shipyards Park is expected to be busy on Saturday, August 30 with the Yukon Arts Centre hosting another free concert as part of the Lotteries Yukon 50th anniversary celebrations.
The concert, featuring 54-40 and local artists Bria Rose and Kris Moore, is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. and end at 6:30 p.m.
To reduce congestion, those attending the event are encouraged to consider carpooling, taking Transit or using active transportation.
Do not park by Fire Hall #1 (Black Street or Front Street). Emergency vehicles need enough space to safely come and go from the station.
Bylaw Services will be directing traffic at Ogilvie Street and Black Street to help manage vehicle and active transportation at the end of the concert. Assistance will also be in place at the Second Avenue crosswalk near A&W and Shipyards Park at that time.
The main entrance and exit to the parking lot at Shipyards Park will be closed once it is full. Any concert-goers leaving early will be required to leave via the Second Avenue exit.
Transit routes and schedules will remain in place, though there may be some minor delays.
Those who will be in the area are advised to expect increased pedestrian traffic, be cautious, and follow the direction of traffic control.
