Hillcrest reconstruction work will continue in 2026 following completion of about half of Phase 1A in 2025.
When complete, Phase 1A will see utility and surface work done on Roundel Road from Summit Road to Sunset Drive North and surface work on Summit Road from Roundel Road to Hillcrest Drive.
The City thanks residents for their patience and understanding, recognizing these necessary improvements have impacted traffic and resulted in noise and inconvenience in the neighbourhood.
Looking ahead to the 2026 season, the City’s contractor Castle Rock Enterprises will begin mobilizing equipment mid-May to early June for the remaining Phase 1A work:
- installation of water and sewer mains and services
- storm mains on Roundel Road from Sunset Drive to Summit Road
- surface work, including asphalt, gutters and curbs
- general restoration work.
For questions or concerns about the upcoming season, please contact project manager Gareth Earl at [email protected].
Detailed design and public engagement for Phase 1B will also be underway this year. It is expected to include work on the east end of Sunset Drive North, Roundel Road east of Summit Road, and Burns Road between Roundel Road and Hillcrest Drive.
A public open house will be held in the fall.
Construction work for Phase 1B will not begin until the 2027 construction season at the earliest.
