FireSmart work at the Porter Creek Snow Dump is resuming in June.
Tree felling was completed by the contractor in late 2025, minimizing wildlife impacts. Site clean-up, debris removal and stacking of wood for public salvage was put on hold until it was deemed safe to complete. That work is now being completed.
For public safety, please stay clear of the area until the contractor has completed the work. This site is an active work zone, and equipment may be in operation.
Impacted trails will be restored once work is complete. Felled branches will be removed and chipped, and any usable wood will be stacked and made available for public salvage. Wood is not available for public salvage until after the work is complete.
The City will notify the public when the work is complete.
Visit FireSmart sites | Wildfires for information on fuel management projects throughout the territory, including project maps and the status of public salvage wood.
