Canada Day celebrations will be happening Downtown on Tuesday, July 1.
The Whitehorse Legion is organizing the Canada Day parade. The parade will start at 11 a.m. at Sixth Avenue and Main Street and proceed down Main Street to Second Avenue and then head north along Second Avenue to Ogilvie Street, ending at Shipyards Park.
Bylaw Services will assist with traffic control. Beginning at 10:45 a.m., road closures will be in effect on Main Street from Sixth Avenue to Second Avenue, and on Second Avenue from Main Street to Ray Street. Southbound traffic will be detoured to Fourth Avenue. Parking will not be available along Main Street between Fourth Avenue and Second Avenue beginning around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, June 30 until after the parade is finished.
During the parade, Whitehorse Transit buses will be re-routed to temporary stops along Fourth Avenue.
The Canada Day parade is a popular event. Residents are encouraged to carpool, take Transit or use active transportation.
Do not to park by Fire Hall #1 (Black Street or Front Street). Emergency vehicles need enough space to come and go from the station.
