City of Whitehorse and the Government of Yukon launch second round of engagement for HART: Combined Intersection Upgrades Projects

The City of Whitehorse and the Government of Yukon are continuing to work together on a joint initiative to improve the intersections of Hamilton Boulevard/Two Mile Hill Road and the Alaska Highway as well as Range Road and Two Mile Hill.

Based on a technical review and community feedback received in summer 2023, the project team has developed recommended designs to improve both intersections. The recommended designs focus on improving accessibility, convenience, and safety for all road users at both intersections.

Residents are invited to provide feedback on two proposed intersection design options through a survey starting on April 2, 2024.
A virtual public information session is also being held on April 3 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The information session is an opportunity for community members to learn more about the project and ask the project team questions. The session will be recorded for those who are not able to watch it live.

Following this second round of engagement, a preferred design option will be determined, with a third round of consultation scheduled for June. A final design will then be determined.

The HART: Combined Intersection Upgrades project builds on the recommendations from the 2020 Range Road and Two Mile Hill Road Intersection studies, as well as other previous studies that considered the area. It also aligns with the City’s overall transportation and sustainability goals to improve the efficient movement of people by walking, cycling and using transit.
