City prepares roads and trails for winter

October 28, 2026

City crews are busy preparing roads, trails, and street features for winter maintenance.

To support snow clearing operations and keep residents safe, the following seasonal closures and changes are underway:

  • Bike lane delineators on McIntyre Drive will be removed for winter to facilitate snow removal.
  • Delineators and temporary traffic-calming measures in neighbourhoods throughout Whitehorse have been removed to facilitate snow removal.
  • The trail on the south side of Two Mile Hill is closed for the winter season. It will reopen in the spring.
  • Miles Canyon Road is closed to vehicle traffic for the season. It will reopen in the spring.

The City thanks residents for their cooperation and understanding during this transition to winter operations. Please follow all posted signage and barriers.

Visit whitehorse.ca/snow for information about snow clearing in the city, and visit engagewhitehorse.ca to learn more about traffic calming initiatives in Whitehorse.
