The City will be closing the south end of Eugene Avenue to vehicle traffic.
The closure is aimed at reducing shortcutting happening in the area and comes after a two-month pilot in 2025.
The closure is scheduled to happen in early June. Jersey barriers and knock-down bollards will be put in place for 2026 to allow emergency access.
Engineering assessment and engagement was completed in 2024 to develop a traffic calming plan for Eugene Avenue. This included a recommendation to block access from Leota Street at the south end of the road to prevent shortcutting. Visit Engage Whitehorse to read the full report.
The City is continuing to collect data on traffic in nearby areas, including Leota Street and Witch Hazel Drive.
