The FireSmart Plant Tag Program is returning to Whitehorse.
Happening in partnership with FireSmart BC, eye-catching FireSmart Plant Tags are available at garden centres to help gardeners and landscapers find trees and shrubs that are less likely to endanger your home in the event of a wildfire.
In Whitehorse, these plants will be available at Yukon Gardens, Canadian Tire, and Decora.
Launch events are scheduled at each location:
- Yukon Gardens: Saturday, May 23, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Canadian Tire: Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Decora: Saturday, June 6, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The City’s FireSmart crew will be at each launch event to help with picking out the right trees and shrubs that are safe and beautiful for Whitehorse yards.
FireSmart plants will be tagged and available at each of these locations throughout the spring and summer.
The City’s Plant Tag Program is adapted from resources developed by FireSmart BC.
