Asphalt overlay work on Fourth Avenue is continuing with milling work to the existing asphalt expected to wrap up this week and transitioning into paving next week.
The City recognizes traffic congestion in the area has been disruptive. We are working with crews to minimize the impact and ask those travelling through the area to be patient and exercise caution on the road.
The milling work at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Second Avenue finished on Thursday, June 11 with traffic returning to normal patterns. Based on the current schedule, paving on Fourth Avenue is expected to have a similar impact closer to the end of the month.
Milling work on the southbound lane near Baxter Street has started with additional work also set to take place south of the crosswalk in the area.
Traffic volumes are expected to decrease in the coming days, but residents can expect busy periods of traffic as the project continues throughout the month during paving.
The City is working on traffic plans to minimize impacts where possible.
Transit may consider detours through the area. Signage and information will be in place for any Transit detours. Delays can be expected. Use the Transloc app to see where your bus is in real-time.
Residents and road users are asked to respect the rules of the road to help ensure everyone’s safety in the area. Drive with caution, obey posted signage, and follow directions from onsite crews. If possible, consider taking another route to your destination.
We appreciate residents’ cooperation and patience as we work to improve roadway conditions.
Please note that construction schedules are subject to change as work progresses.
