The Millennium Trail is now closed between the Skate Park and the Selkirk Outfall Pedestrian Bridge in Riverdale, as crews continue to address impacts of erosion along the riverbank.
A section of asphalt near the riverbank is being removed as a precaution to prevent it from sloughing into the Yukon River.
The trail closure area has been expanded to accommodate the equipment required for this work and to ensure the safety of both workers and trail users. The work is expected to take approximately two days to complete. The existing detour will remain in place until permanent trail realignment work can be completed.
Residents are asked to follow signage and stay off the closed section of trail. Signs and barricades are in place to direct people around the work area, and trail users are asked to use detours provided.
Planning is underway to permanently realign the trail. The City will continue to provide updates as the work progresses.
We thank residents for their patience and cooperation.
