The Hamilton Boulevard paved trail has now been plowed to asphalt for the spring and summer season. This concludes the first year of the City’s two-year pilot project designating the trail, from the Alaska Highway to North Star Drive, as a Priority 1 trail under the City’s Snow and Ice Control Policy.
Priority 1 roads and paved trails are typically plowed to remove snow as close to the road or trail surface as possible.
For this pilot project, based on consultation with stakeholders, the City’s goal through the winter is to leave a thin, hard packed layer of snow to accommodate both active transportation users (e.g., pedestrians and cyclists) as well as snowmobiles.
Thank you to the public as well as trail users and our staff for their patience and support following an uncooperative start to winter and then a season of record snowfall.
We look forward to hearing from residents who use the Hamilton Boulevard paved trail. Share your thoughts about this winter’s pilot project at engagewhitehorse.ca
