The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is Wednesday, September 30.
The Council of Yukon First Nations will be hosting events throughout the day, beginning with a Healing and Honour Walk at 10:30 a.m.
The march will proceed from the Healing Totem at the wharf in downtown Whitehorse down Main Street to Second Avenue, turning north on Second Avenue and then turning on to Black Street, ending at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre.
There will be no access to Second Avenue, the 100 block of Black Street, and Main Street beginning at 10:15 a.m. and during the walk. Emergency vehicles will be given priority.
There will be a parking restriction in effect and no parking on Main Street between Front Street and Second Avenue beginning at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29 until the completion of the Healing and Honour Walk on Wednesday.
Traffic control measures will be in place with Bylaw officers assisting with traffic control.
Transit stops along Second Avenue, from Main Street to Ogilvie Street, will be closed with buses detouring along Fourth Avenue. Riders on most routes can expect delays.
The City appreciates the public’s patience during this important event.
