Illegal Tree Cutting

The City is reminding residents about the rules around tree cutting in public spaces within Whitehorse.

If you need a tree removed for safety reasons, please contact the Parks department at 867-668-8325 or [email protected].

If you are looking for firewood, you can apply for a wood cutting authorization for up to one cord of wood within city limits. For larger quantities of firewood, a permit is required from the Government of Yukon.

All other tree removal in public spaces is illegal unless explicitly authorized by the City of Whitehorse.

Illegal tree cutting has recently occurred along the Millenium Trail. Anyone with information about the illegal cutting is asked to contact Bylaw Services at 867-668-8317 or [email protected].
