If you enjoy skating or playing pick-up hockey on outdoor rinks, we need your help to keep rinks shoveled in your community. Consider volunteering as a neighbourhood representative to maintain your local outdoor rink.
Every fall, neighbourhood representatives submit applications to have the rink in their area activated for the upcoming winter. If the weather cooperates, we’re hoping to start flooding rinks the first week of November.
We’re still looking for volunteers to maintain the following rinks:
Hickory Street/Wann Road
Pine Street Park
Stan McCowan
Hidden Valley
Cook Street
Hillcrest Park
Takhini North
Lazulite Drive
Kwanlin Dün (McIntyre)
Stewart Street
Canyon Crescent
Valleyview Park
Pine Ridge Park
Salmon Trail
Whitehorse Copper
Does your neighbourhood rink already have a neighbourhood representative? You can still be part of the volunteer crew that keeps the rink maintained. The more the merrier!
The City has more than 30 rinks in neighbourhoods throughout the community, including a new rink that will open this winter on Normandy Road in Takhini.
