The City’s Contractor, Terus, is resuming traffic calming work on McIntyre Drive with work expected to be complete this year.
Road surface, lighting and sidewalk improvements will be made along with design changes to lower vehicle speeds. Among the design changes are narrower lanes, a raised pedestrian crossing, and a bidirectional bike lane.
Streetlight improvements will begin Monday, June 8 near Hanna Crescent and McCandless Crescent. Temporary sidewalk detours, road cuts and restoration will be in place. This work is expected to wrap up by Friday, June 26.
Road improvements will begin Friday, June 12 on the north end of the street near the Petro Canada station. A 30 kilometre per hour speed limit will be introduced and drivers can expect single lane alternating traffic at times to accommodate the work. This part of the project is expected to take about one month.
The remaining work for this project, including bicycle lane barriers and permanent line marking is scheduled to start in July.
We thank you for your understanding and patience as we complete this important project for the City and the Kwanlin Dün First Nation. Shä̀w níthän, másin cho, gunałchîsh.
